About Me
Hello! I'm Jesus Salcedo. My story in technology began at the University of California, Merced, where I majored in Computer Science and Engineering and minored in Management and Business Economics. From those early days, I was driven by a desire to blend technical ingenuity with strategic business insights. Today, I serve as the Chief Technology Officer at Honeycomb Robotics, where I'm responsible for molding our technological landscape to not only meet but anticipate the complex demands of the future.
My professional journey is not just about roles and responsibilities—it's about passion and impact. At Honeycomb Robotics, I've developed "Overview," an innovative application that transforms satellite imagery into actionable agricultural insights. This tool helps farmers monitor crop health, and alerts farmers to fields that need attention due to downward trajectorys in crop health.
Before Honeycomb, I co-founded Gradient, where I was deeply involved in everything from software development to strategic marketing. Leading the creation of Gradient's full-stack website was a defining challenge. We built it from the ground up, integrating multiple technologies and programming languages, achieving significant cost savings and enhancing operational efficiency.
My expertise in remote sensing gave me an opportunity to participate in the Yara Crop Nutrition Podcast. There I discussed the impacts of aerial imagery on farming, and shared how remote sensing technologies can redefine agricultural productivity and sustainability.
Beyond the office, I've collaborated with academia, guiding bright minds at UC Merced to develop a web application for creating NDVI crop health images using technologies like React and Django. This project not only delivered a proof of concept valued at about $30,000 but also paved the way for new research and development in remote sensing technologies.
My technical toolkit is robust, encompassing everything from Python and JavaScript to cloud technologies like AWS and Kubernetes. Yet, what truly excites me is using these tools to solve real-world problems, making a tangible difference in people's lives and businesses.
